Amanda Hendrix. Amanda R. Hendrix (born 1968), Ph. D. is an American planetary scientist known for her pioneering studies of solar system bodies at ultraviolet wavelengths. She is a senior scientist at the Planetary Science Institute.
The idea was hatched by Amanda Hendrix, a senior scientist with the Planetary Science Institute, who was inspired by other organizations doing similar public outreach.

As a graduate student and postdoctoral research at LASPUniversity of Colorado, Hendrix gained valuable experience in UV spectroscopy and instrumentation and began a career of investigating solar system surfaces (largely airless bodies) in the UV.

The cool thing about UVIS is that we can see things that are invisible to other instruments, said Amanda Hendrix, a planetary scientist at the Planetary Science Institute and a UVIS team member who analyzes icy satellite data.
